General Information About The Catch

The Catch is located in the epi-center of Orange County’s sports and entertainment venues of Angels Stadium, The Grove of Anaheim, and Honda Center. The comfortably upscale restaurant features the finest in fresh seafood, USDA prime steaks and table-side service of classics, such as Caesar Salad , Sizzling Hamachi Sashimi, and guest favorite Liquid Nitrogen Seasonal Sorbet served to order and prepared table-side.  The Catch excels in spirits, beer and wine offerings, featuring award-winning ales and lagers from sister restaurant TAPS Fish House & Brewery, alongside a selection of local and hard-to-find craft beers on draft.  Additionally, The Catch offers a Game Day Menu during Angels baseball season.  All can be enjoyed while watching one of the 14 LCD televisions in the spacious bar-lounge or wraparound patio with roaring fire pit.

History

The Catch originally sat on the corner of Gene Autrey Way and State College Boulevard for 32 years, before being relocated to its new location on the corner of Sportstown Drive and Katella Avenue.  An Anaheim landmark for decades, The Catch continues the proud tradition of serving the finest steaks, the freshest seafood, and classically prepared cocktails.

Joe Manzella is one of Orange County’s most successful independent restaurateurs. With four restaurants–The Catch in Anaheim and three TAPS Fish House & Brewery locations in Brea, Corona, and Irvine–Manzella commands a mini-empire of close to 400 employees, with $20 million dollars in annual sales.

Manzella grew up in Palos Verdes, one of five children of Helen and Faro Manzella, the VP of Operations for Northrop Grumman. After graduating from Arizona State University, he spent his early career years in major account sales with the Xerox Corporation, before convincing his father to back him in his growing passion of opening a restaurant. After five years of development and almost insurmountable setbacks, Joe opened TAPS Fish House & Brewery in Brea in 1999. They were embraced by the public from day one and have become one of Orange County’s most successful high-volume, independent restaurants.

Manzella currently lives in Orange County with his wife Michelle, their two children, and chocolate lab Sir Peter Richard (“Petey”).  Joe is a loyal supporter to Arizona State’s athletic programs and is involved in annual programs and athlete appreciation events.
